GR5-E2 - Maastricht to Nice: Books and Maps Used

GR5-E2: Books and maps we used

Because when we decided to do the GR5-E2 the book of that part through east Belgium was reprinted, we used two maps of the National geografic Institute instead. The GR5 and some other tourist routes are indicated on the maps. The two maps we used (scale 1:100,000), were:

113: Liège - Eupen
116: Esneux - St. Vith

The rest of the walk we used books; one French guide:

Du Luxembourg aux Vosges of the Fédération Française de la Randonnée Pédestre

and four English guides from the serie Foothpaths of Europe:

Walking the GR5: Vosges to Jura
Walking the GR5: Lake Geneva to Mont-Blanc
Walking the GR5: Modane to Larche
Walking the GR5: Larche to Nice

These books are not available anymore. If you plan the do the GR5-E2 you have to use the French guides.

Tip: If you plan to do the GR5-E2 in one piece like we did, you can send home the guides you do not need anymore, so you do not have to carry all the guides from the beginnig till the end of your tour.
