GR10: Maps and Books

When you decide to do the GR10, you can choose to use either the guides of the FFRP or maps. The entire route is covered by four guides:

These guides are written in French, but that may not be a problem. The route is waymarked very well and the maps in the guides give enough information if it is not clear where the route is going. We actually only used the booklets to see when or where we could expect an opportunity to pitch the tent for the night. We did hardly use the text, because we speak French poorly. Despite it, we did not make more mistakes than native French speaking people. In the booklets estimations of walking times are given, which were too short for us.
Our travelling-companion of the first few days, Emily from Amerika, used maps with a scale of 1:25000. Because she wanted to do the GR10 at once, she had to carry a lot of maps. I have forgotten how many. With these maps and the waymarkes in the field she easily could find her way.
